Glen is a thinker and a do-er with a straightforward, no-nonsense approach. He has led a life of challenge, adventure, achievement and service – driving and encouraging teams to give everything they have and to be the best they can.
He progressed from driving trucks at age 17 in a few hostile environments to his final military appointment responsible for operational capability, efficiency, compliance and safety across a fleet of 9000 vehicles. This first-hand operational experience was invaluable in pursuing sustainable fleet operations in London. In 2007, his industry-leading knowledge was employed by TfL to establish FORS – the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme. At TfL he was responsible for developing and delivering the FORS Standard, the scheme’s audit regime, the practitioner qualification, driver training programme and the operational support package – the toolkits.
Alongside FORS he created the multi-award winning CLOCS initiative that is revolutionising safety in construction logistics; initiated the LoCITY programme that stimulated the uptake of alternatives fuel in commercial vehicles and developed the ground-breaking Safe Urban Driving course that has seen tens of thousands of drivers trained protect vulnerable road users.
Glen is also a vocal campaigner for safer and lower emission commercial vehicles. He works with vehicle operators, manufacturers, regulators and lobby groups for healthier and safer urban streets.
Glen is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Carmen.
